The grandson of a penny arcade owner, Lawrence began working in the family business at just seven years old. Many say he was destined to become an expert in the field, and that’s exactly what he set out to do after founding his business, R. & L. Coins, in 1964. Built on honesty, trust, transparency, and integrity, the two-man business flourished under Lawrence’s leadership for the next sixty years, while Robert pursued a different path after attending university in 1965.
After just five years, Chards Coin and Bullion Dealer would move locations to Lytham Road, Blackpool, and appear in the media with newspaper articles headlining ‘Five-year story of success’. This location would serve Chards Coin and Bullion Dealer for over 40 years, until the Harrowside expansion was completed in 2014. This new base of operations was a testament to the business’s commitment and excellence after 50 years of serving customers in the United Kingdom and internationally.
In 2024, Chards Coin and Bullion Dealer attained full membership with the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA), the independent authority that governs the London Bullion Market, where volumes exceed $60 billion per day.
