Bridget Jones is the latest addition to ‘scenes in the square’ – sculptures which feature classic characters or props which resonate with Leicester Square’s association with the film industry.
Brought to life
The first to celebrate a rom com, the work depicts ‘Bridge’, brought to life on screen by Rene Zellweiger, cradling the diary that “launched her into the pop culture stratosphere and redefined the romantic comedy heroine for a generation.”
It may be a little over the top to describe her as “the most beloved Londoner in modern cinema” (as the plaque does) but off-hand no others came immediately to mind. Can LBM readers offer their suggestions for more – or equally – worthy, film-related candidates for inclusion on the trail (fictional and non-fictional)?
