For five days in October, Taiwan Excellence took over the Atrium at Westfield White City with a showcase of the best in smart living, AI-powered homes, healthcare, urban mobility, sustainable fashion and consumer tech
Sustainable
Twenty pioneering brands – including Acer, Asus, Gigabyte, and KYMCO – demonstrated award-winning innovations, many of which were being seen in the UK for the first time: e-bikes and foldable mobility scooters, glass-free 3D, sustainable fashion made from pineapple fibres, luxury spa tech, and consumable-free air purifiers.
Resilience
At the opening ceremony hosted by award-winning stand-up comedian Monica Hsueh, Lord Faulkner, the UK trade envoy for Taiwan, spoke of the close ties underpinned by the signing of the Enhanced Trade Partnership in 2023. This had been followed by three major ‘pillar agreements’ covering investment, digital trade and industry collaboration.
Lord Faulkner said the event was the first major Taiwan-focussed trade and cultural promotion in London for a number of years and illustrated the resilience of bilateral cooperation and strong mutual interests.
Progress
The pavilion at the event was inspired by the concept of ‘Sailing towards sustainability’ and featured a ship-like design and immersive LED lighting effects “symbolising Taiwan’s spirit of progress and its voyage towards a smarter, greener future.”
Taiwan Excellent was organised by TAITRA – the Taiwan External Trade Development Council – and the Ministry of Economic Affairs
